Condition B+: repaired tears and restoration in margins and corners. From 1934-1940, Eckersley and Lombers worked together for major British clients including the London Transport System and Shell. Their designs were marked by pronounced modernist influences. In this extremely rare poster the artists use an airbrush with a virtuosity that encompasses the best of avant-garde design. Using only three colors in a seemingly simple way, they manage to create a complex image of warmth and poignancy. The white of the paper is included as part of the sophisticated design.
